We all know Valentines day is over now but we can still take advantage of the foods which increase the libido everyday of the year!So please find below a bunch of recipes and ideas which is guaranteed to satisfy you.
First, here are some examples of natural foods that are known for boosting your libido.
Oysters, which are renowned for increasing the sex drive!! It could be the slippery, wet texture of the shellfish or it could be the high levels on zinc ;-) raw oysters are better then cooked ones because they contain more zinc. Oysters are good fun to....if you enjoy seafood that is. Use your hands and fingers to feed each other and have a laugh with it. If you decide on using oysters, please clean them thoroughly to get rid of all the nasty bacteria and dirt!
Red meat. Yes red meat is also very rich in zinc so good news for all the meat lovers out there! Example of red meat for the libido are wild game, lamb and grass-fed beef. I’m sure this is good news for all the ladies reading.....a good steak normally does the trick ;-)
Poultry is another good source of protein. All parts of the chicken are good testosterone boosting foods. Dark turkey meat and goose meat are also good for boosting the libido. Wild poultry would also be a great choice due to the high protein content.
Oats and other unrefined grains....yes oatmeal could be the one for you!! Unrefined grain have high levels of energy which increases stamina which a man needs in bed especially on special occasions.
Celery! Yes celery has androsterone which is responsible for hormonal reaction in men. As a result of eating more celery, more pheromones are released and the sex drive is improved.
Avocado is rich in Vitamin B6 which is essential in the production of testosterone. Eating one a day could do wonders for your sex drive.
Asparagus contains Vitamin E which is vital in augmenting testosterone levels
Nuts....mind the pun.......are rich in essential fatty acids and zinc which are important in a healthy productions of testosterone. Examples of nuts you can eat are; almonds, pine nuts, peanuts, walnuts and cashews.
Garlic....has allicin which is a strong compound responsible for increasing testosterone levels. Allicin easily breaks down so you could eat garlic before bed but do NOT forget to brush your teeth after!
Healthy, tasty Brunch
Ham, egg and chips
Takes 10 minutes to make, 20 minutes to cook
Ingredients
1 tbsp rapeseed oil, plus extra for frying the eggs
450g celeriac, cut into chips
Leaves of a few sprigs fresh thyme
250-300g smoked gammon joint
2 tbsp pale of golden ale
2 large free-range eggs
Method
Preheat the oven to 200C/ fan 180/ gas 6 and place a baking tray in the oven to heat up. Heat the oil in a large frying pan until hot. Add the celeriac, season with a little salt and thyme, and fry over a high heat until lightly golden. Remove from the pan and divide between 2 large sheets of baking paper, placing them in a small pile in the centre of each.
Slice the gammon joint into 2 thick steaks. Heat the frying pan until very hot, add the steaks and sear for 2-3 mintues on each side. Place a steak on top of the pile of celeriac chips.
Pour over 1 tbsp of ale over each steak, then made a parcel by crimping and folding over the edges of the paper to form a sealed rectangle. Cook on the hot tray for 12 minutes.
Meanwhile fry the eggs in a little oil in a frying pan until cooked to your liking. Tear open the parcels, place a fried egg on top and serve with the rest of the well chilled ale.
Preparing oysters
Both of these delicately flavoured shellfish are contained within shlls that can be tricky to open. You can ask your fishmonger to prepare them if you prefer or get your hands dirty and follow the instructions below!
Oysters can be fried, poached and grilled or eaten straight out the shell with red wine vinegar flavoured with shallots or just with lemon juice.
Hold the oyster in one hand with the flat half of the shell facing up, using a towel to protect your hand. Insert an oyster knife in the hinge and twist.
When the upper shell comes off, scrape off any shell and cut under the oyster to release if from the shell.
Slow cooked lamb with aubergines
Serves 4, takes 15minutes to make, 1 hour to cook. 517cals per serving.
Ingredients
600g boneless leg of lamb
4tsp olive oil
1 large onion chopped
5 garlic clove, crushed
1 cinnamon stick
½ tsp whole cloves
½ tsp freshly grates nutmeg
1 tsp red wine vinegar
400g can chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato puree
200ml red wine
2 large fresh thyme sprigs
3 fresh bay leaves
200g aubergine, chopped
200g orzo pasta or macaroni.
Method
Cut the lamb in 5cm chunks. Heat 2tsp of the oil in a casserole over a high heat and brown the lamb in batches. Remove and set aside.
Lower the heat and add the rest of the oil with the onion, garlic, cinnamon and cloves. Fry for 5-6 minutes until the onions are soft and beginning to brown. Stir in the nutmeg and paprika and cook for 1 minute. Return the lamb to the casserole.
Turn the heat to medium-high, add the binegar and cook until it has almost evaporated. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato puree, wine, herbs and some seasoning. Bring back to the boil, turn down the heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring now and then. Stir in the aubergine and simmer, uncovererd, for a futher 25-30minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a pan of boiling water until al dente. Drain and serve with the stew.
Dessert-Frozen Raspberry truffles
You will need 26 foil petite four cases for this recipe
Ingredients
150g frozen raspberries
60ml double cream
2 tbsp raspberry flavoured liqueur
200g milk eating chocolate, chopped coarsely
36 frozen raspberries, extra.
Method
Push raspberries through a fine sieve into small heatproof bowl; discard seeds.
Add cream, liqueur and chocolate to the bowl; stir over a small saucepan of simmering water until smooth.
Divide half the chocolate mixture among the cases; top with the extra raspberries. You can also top remaining chocolate mixture over the cases, Freeze truffles until firm.
Remove truffles from freezer 5 minutes before serving. Serve topped with edible gold leaf if you like.
